Hot Tub Water Testing

Can’t seem to get your water clear or having problems balancing the chemicals? A hot tub contains a relatively small volume of water, usually ranging from 350 to 600 gallons. Because of this, it’s extremely important that you care for the water differently than a pool. Putting four bodies into a 500 gallon hot tub is the equivalent of have 80 people in a 10,000 gallon pool!  So, after heavy use, if the hot tub is looking a little cloudy we recommended shocking your hot tub with granular chlorine or bromine. First, ensure the pumps are on and evenly spread the contents throughout the hot tub – leave your cover off and let it breathe. Depending on how cloudy the water is, it may take one or more times to shock the water and get it back to looking clear again. Always remember, pool chemicals are designed for pools and have a higher concentrate of chemicals and additives.  Therefore, you should always use hot tub chemicals for your hot tub as damage to your equipment and acrylic shell can result from maintaining poor water chemistry. Be sure to follow these guidelines and protect your investment!
